A pipe leak can't always be handled immediately with a full replacement. The repair clamp lets you seal and keep operating while the permanent repair is scheduled.
What it is and how it works
It's a stainless steel clamp with a rubber gasket that wraps around the pipe and compresses over the leak. As you tighten the bolts, the rubber seals cracks, punctures or corrosion pores.
Basic steps
- Reduce or cut the pressure if possible.
- Clean the area: remove rust, loose paint and dirt.
- Center the gasket over the leak.
- Tighten the bolts alternately and evenly.
- Restore pressure gradually and check the seal.
Types by leak
- Single band: small punctures.
- Double or triple band: longitudinal cracks or greater coverage.
Important
The repair clamp is a temporary or emergency solution. Schedule replacement of the affected section and assess the cause (corrosion, pressure, impacts) so it doesn't happen again.
At YRVIMAR we carry repair clamps from 1/2" to 12" in stainless steel. Always keep a few spares: they're worth their weight in gold in an emergency.
